Sushi Tei @ Tampines 1

Ichiban Sushi @ Changi City Point Mall

 Ichiban Sushi

This week is Mother's Day! I brought my mom to Ichiban Sushi to have lunch and take a walk at the newly open Changi City Point Mall! The place looks great and we are all excited to what we will be feasting on!

 Tuna Mayo Inari $3.90

The tuna mayo inari tasted norm, nothing very special about it. Just a large amount of tuna wrapped with sweet beancurd skin. It's a little expensive, considering the taste and ingredients.

 Salmon Sashimi $9.50

Salmon Sashimi is one dish that i would definitely order whenever i enter a sushi restaurant. The salmon sushi is fresh, however, not as fresh as one of the restaurant i yet to review on. It does not taste very creamy but it does not have fishy smell.

 Jellyfish $3.90

Jellyfish is one dish that is great for a starter. It is very refreshing when combined with the thinly sliced radish. However, i still find it a little pricey considering the portion.

 Hot Green Tea $1

Hot green tea that does not come free when spent a minimum amount unlike some restaurant. It's a negative effort from their marketing department. Worst still, waiters and waitresses that does not refill it automatically. No efforts were seen from them.

 Gyu Teriyaki Don $11.90

Beef with onions and rice. The beef were marinated with a little pepper. It combined well with the sweet teriyaki sauce. The onions were also sweet and when eaten together as a whole, it's good.

Chicken w Scrambled Egg $10.90
Additional Rice ( + 1.80 )

There are a few combo that you can choose from, like adding just rice or you can add rice, side dish and fruits that come at a different price.

When served, the food was not sizzling hot! It tasted like it's left on the shelves for 15mins. The waiting time for the food was too long. There's not really a good point for me to review for this dish. Disappointing!

Saba $7.90

This dish came after the chicken w scrambled egg. I think it took too long to come. I actually wanted to cancel this order, however it came just after i intended to cancel it. Luckily it's hot. The fish was quite fresh and it was crispy on the skin. Not bad, however, i find it a little pricey for the portion also.

Overall the food was alright but the service and price is a negative. No hot green tea was refilled at all for my entire meal that lasts about 45mins. Chicken w scrambled egg and saba came very very late.

The Verdict
Food: 6/10
Service: 4/10
Ambiance: 7/10

Swee Choon Tim Sum

Swee Choon Tim - Sum !! So far this is the best tim sum place I can find for Supper! Swee Choon never fails to satisfy my supper cravings! It is located along jalan besar near city square. Do not worry about having difficulty finding the place as the surrondings are still light up and full of people at night.

Chicken Claw
This authentic Hong Kong steamed dim sum tasted not bad. The sauce is braised and the chicken claws tasted like it has been braised with it for a long time. The chicken claw texture is soft and springy.

 Char Siew Pau
This is the best Char Siew Pau i have eaten in Singapore. The bun is soft and sweet and the meat is not too fat. This is the best dish of the night. All dim sum fans should come and try!

 Pan Fried Pork Dumpling
The pan fried pork dumpling is also very good. The skin is crispy BUT a little too thick for me. The pork is well cooked and the sauce will squirt out when u bite it. Beware, do not wear light color clothes.

Fried Golden Tofu with Pork Floss
The fried tofu is very very soft. They fried it really well and its a good combination with the pork floss.

 Sichuan Oil Chilli Wanton
If you can eat spicy stuff, you should try this dish. I don't know how did they do it, but this dish is definitely for all those who can eat spicy. This is one of their signature dish as well!

 Fried Banana and Prawn Fritters
Banana and Prawn?? That was my first reaction. To my surprise, it tasted very good. Half of the fritters is banana and the other half of it is prawn. The banana is very nice and the prawns are fresh. Quite a surprise dish.

 Fried Rice
The fried rice tasted normal but the surprising stuff was that they provide us with black beans in chilli oil. That was the first time i tried black beans with fried rice.

 Beancurd Prawn Roll
This dish is great! The skin is crispy while the prawns are fresh, crispy and springy! All should order this too!

Mango Pomelo
After all the nice dim sum, you all should enjoy a bowl of mango pomelo. It's a great way to end the night. The mango is sweet and is a great combination with the pomelo. Nice!

If you and your Kakis are looking for something not too expensive for supper, this is the right place! Come and enjoy the dim sum that no other place can offer. I can't remember the price for each dish, but i spent around 20+ for all these dishes and drinks.

Xin Wang Cafe @ Anchorpoint

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe is very well known in Singapore.
I have been there a few times but is it nice? Let's find out!

This is the first time I eat at Xin Wang @ Anchorpoint. Went there around 8 or 9 plus to have dinner with my friend and it's quiet over there. The stuff is friendly and I felt welcome.

What did I eat?

I always like the Curry Pork Chop Rice, But sadly it has been removed. Wait a minute! the friendly Manger is here and he is able to do it for me! I am really grateful he did that for me.

The curry is sweet and not too spicy. It's great going with the rice and that's what I call a prefect match. There are potatoes in it too.
I find it a little oily! Health Conscious People Beware! And another down side is I remembered there are 2 piece of pork chop in it and not one. So a little disappointing. But hey I still got to eat what I want right?

When life give you lemon you make lemonade or you can buy one, easier I guess.

Speaking of drinks, you have to try their Iced Milk Tea! IT'S DELICIOUS! Has Never failed me!

If you wondered why I said that, it's because many shops these days will kind of drop their standard over time by changing ingredients due to cheaper price and thus losing their quality. So please keep up your good Ice Cold Milk Tea. Must try!

I ordered Fried Dumping as my side. I regretted it, not that is not nice but is just tasted normal.

I should have ordered Xia Jiang Ji ( Prawn Paste Chicken ), it's much nicer. I do have to said they cooked it really well, the base of the skin is crispy and the side is soft.

Overall is tasted not bad. Xin Wang have over 200 dishes to try and one of the best milk tea ever.
Great Ambience and Place to hang out, but is not worth to travel down to try. Go the the one near your home!

Food 6 /10
Service 10/10
Milk Tea 9.5 /10

Ramen SANTOUKA ラーメン山頭火

Ramen SANTOUKA ラーメン山頭火

Ramen Craving anyone? This would definitely satisfy your need! This cosy ramen restaurant in Clark Quay central is no ordinary ramen you would find anywhere!

The place is rather small. You would definitely want to come earlier during lunch or dinner time to prevent long queues. There are also authentic Japanese whom would visit this stall frequently.

There are also many "samples" of the ramen made of plastic displayed outside the restaurant. It is rather exquisite and helps customer to visualize the dishes!(Did you know each of the plastic model cost $15 dollar!?)
The restaurant is located at a corner of the Central, facing the lake, thus it would be nice if are facing the lake while enjoying this scrumptious meal!

One value added service for this restaurant is that they provide you with one whole jug of plain water, thus you can refill it one your own without waiting for the waitress to come and refill it for you!
